fireflies flying outwork fireworks firing
whole bodies lit and live to tell the story
flying away from flitting kids with lids
dogs act like they've never seen insects
both jump around and start to collect
fireworks just go up and fade
they may make a dog shake its leg
but can never make kids and dogs beg
because their light forever stays
