some stopped looking a long time ago
for peace, but I kept at it
my progress sounding like a typewriter tournament
I sit, then stand up and pace to think
of ways to procure more paper and ink
no matter how many blips and howls
a metal detector can never find peace
a dog growls at its reflection because it is stupid
sadly, a human does the same
pretending people are different in other houses
even though they have identical frames
for the last time: just because people are not speaking English
does not mean they are talking about you
you are not that interesting
but peace is, and we should talk about it at the very least
