way
over
there
50 people long?
I push the stuffed cart that direction
trying not to bump others
or inhale their coughs

and wait
and wait
and wait
small talk and jokes
with the guy behind me
in a wheelchair

and wait
and wait
and wait
can you pass me that bag of chips?
the red or purple one?
red it is

and wait
and wait
and wait
an hour passes?
my frozen stuff defrosted in the cart
I'm now 5th in line
for the first time in my life I don't care about the prices
the second I'm outside
I inhale the cool air
over and over
so happy to see a big cement parking lot

waiting
for
me
