why do we think clocks are wise
is it because they have a direction
and hands to point it out
with glass and plastic for protection
they see everything from table or wall height
what goes on in bed and boardrooms
knowing our pulse and steps day and night
they put us to sleep and wake us up
they know what makes us tick and they wind us up
until, that is, our time is up
