the fields burn with the gasoline of labor intensifying in the summer suns in the wintertime ice bullets crash down as workers grasp their barbed wire blankets the fields must get worked the fields must work you antique speakers blast another summer another winter another summer another winter each one twice as worse as the previous the people forgot all their songs they can barely remember what they are they are just raking dirt soon they will be raking their own bones a flooding sweat jumps him out of bed and he hugs his family twice as tight as the previous
